Folene Packaging, a trusted name in the packaging field, is your alternative source for surgical packaging materials. We bring our expertise to the table, offering a range of quality polyolefin shrink films as secondary packaging to help ensure the safety and surgical integrity of equipment entering the operating room. Wrap your sterile surgical packs in an extra layer of our protective film to ensure the highest standards of safety and sterility.
When it comes to patient safety, there’s no room for compromise, especially in the OR. You want to be extra sure that your surgical instruments remain in sterile packaging to uphold patient and surgical staff safety. Whether you’re packaging surgical instruments, surgical masks, or personal protective equipment, an added layer of shrink film ensures the surgical integrity of the contents and keeps contamination at bay. Here are just a few of the benefits of using an added layer of surgical packaging film:
Protects against external contamination
Improves stability and shelf life of sensitive surgical products
Provides a tamper-evident seal for surgical equipment and peel packs
Clear glossy films make it easy for surgical staff to identify the correct instruments without compromising package sterility
The operating room is a highly sensitive environment where extra caution is required. Higher standards of sterility are needed to protect patients during operations when they are most susceptible to infection. Wrapping products with surgical shrink packaging film creates an instantly tamper-evident seal. This makes it obvious when a instrument or equipment package has been opened or damaged and is no longer suitable for use in the operating room. Shrink film immediately alerts surgical staff that the product is no longer safe to use and offers protection of patient safety and wellbeing.
Flxtite® and Ecolene® films are well suited as secondary and tertiary packaging for the following surgical applications:
A pharmaceutical manufacturer wanted to switch to shrink-wrapping trays of vials instead of using boxboard cartons. They wanted to save warehouse storage room, and film rolls use less space than stacks of paper cartons. They also wanted to reduce shipping weight, as a tray overwrapped with shrink film weighs less than a carton. In addition, the product would be more readily visible and tamper-evident, upholding medical quality.
The manufacturer purchased a fully automatic “L Sealer” with a “mushroom blade” and used 60 gauge center-folded Flxtite® AP-X centerfold film to package their pharmaceutical products. They are delighted with the packaging results and glad they switched to Flxtite® AP-X shrink film.
At Folene Packaging, we believe in packaging products that are good for healthcare providers, patients, and the environment. As a proud member of the Sustainable Packaging Coalition, we offer recyclable, compostable, and biodegradable shrink films that don’t compromise on surgical packaging performance. Our Ecolene® grade film is specially engineered to biodegrade naturally under normal disposal conditions and return safely to the environment as biomass. In addition, all Flxtite® non-cross linked films are fully recyclable and promote a sustainable healthcare industry.
Using eco-friendly packaging materials demonstrates a commitment to corporate social responsibility and can enhance the reputation of surgical supply companies. Prioritizing eco-friendly packaging in the surgical industry is essential for protecting the environment and ensuring a sustainable future for surgical packaging.
Our Flxtite® films are not USP Class VI approved, or FDA approved for direct contact with medications, drugs, or sterile surgical instruments as primary packaging. However, Flxtite films are suitable for secondary and tertiary surgical packaging. The extra protective layer of shrink film helps maintain product integrity and sterility and prevents external contamination from dust, dirt, and germs. It ensures the high quality of surgical products during surgical procedures and proactively protects against in-transit damage and tampering.
