XXXX Foods is a processor and packager of frozen seafood products, and is based in Maryland. Although XXX Packaging is a long-time distributor of tape, labels, etc. to XXXX Foods, they were not their supplier of shrink films.
Based, however, on XXX Packaging ’s success with Flxtite polyolefin shrink films, the XXX Pckaging salesman inquired as to XXXX Foods shrink business.
The XXXX Foods plant manager indicated that their film of choice was Cryovac’s high speed film, MPD 2055. XXX Packaging then called Flxtite’s Chris Reese for consultation and assistance. Chris recommended Flxtite’s
AP-1 as a drop-in replacement for the MPD 2055.
The XXX Packaging salesman returned to XXXX Foods with a price quotation. The plant manager was very interested in the cost savings available and requested a sample roll of 28”SWS X75 Flxtite AP-1. Because of their production timetable and manufacturing requirements, they asked that Flxtite deviate from its usual policy, of insisting that either the distributor’s salesman or a Flxtite representative attend a film test, and leave the roll for them to run when they could fit the test into their schedule.
The sample Flxtite roll was eventually run on XXXX Foods third shift. As a result of its excellent performance, XXXX Foods ordered a 16 roll trial pallet for a further full production trial run. This pallet, too, ran without any incident, this time on all three shifts. XXXX Foods, therefore, placed a commercial 84 roll order and has now switched their entire $100M+ annual account from Cryovac MPD 2055 to Flxtite AP-1 .
